Provenance: We have an exclusive arrangement with Teylers Museum in Haarlem, the oldest museum in the Netherlands (1784). This museum has one of the finest and most complete 18th and 19th century literature collections in the country with 120.000 tomes on the topics of botany, zoology and geology. Thanks to Teylers Museum, Heritage Editions can offer you impeccable giclée prints made from well-conserved original collections. What are these collections? Teylers Museum has a unique library collection of ornithological and botanical antique hand-colored engraved or lithographed books of prints by well-known painters, etchers and printers, such as Audubon, Gould, Elliot, Levaillant, Nozeman, Redouté, Maria Sibylla Merian, Wilson, Dr Robert Thornton, Catesby, Edwards, Seligmann, etc. The original prints are especially digitalized for Heritage Editions by Teylers specialist photographic department in cooperation with our printing partner. Proofing is done by the Dutch company Re-Art Fine Art Printing & Editions. Re-Art creates digital third generation state-of-art prints. The company uses the finest acid-free papers and latest reproduction techniques. Proofing at the museum is an essential part of setting up our print editions. Our prints become in this way virtually indistinguishable from the original artwork. Once set up, all subsequent prints are an exact facsimile of the original proof and Heritage Editions guarantees this consistent quality. |
